FOOD REVIEW (2) - JOHOR BAHRU, MALAYSIA

Hey guys! Whazzup!

As some of you might know, we (my family & I) went to visit my brother at Johor Bahru last week. It was such a great trip, though it was a bit tiring waiting at the airport.

However, this week I will not write about my trip, and since you wanted me to do another food review, so I decided that this week I will review about the food that we’ve ate at Johor Bahru.

We went to a few places, but I will review on those who I think most distinct than others.

1.       Kacang Pool Haji (Restaurant)
Before that, I would let you all to know that Kacang Pool (you can see the photo below) is one of the most famous foods in Johor and some say that this restaurant has the best Kacang Pool, hence the name.

So, since they say this place has the best Kacang Pool, so I ordered it. I should let you know that I have tasted Kacang Pool from other places that’s not in Johor. Let me tell you what I think....it is true what they say about this place, the Kacang (Nuts) Pool is sooo good, the nuts is not too many and not too little, just nice. And when the half fried egg melted into the Kacang Pool, it makes it even better. And not to forget the fluffy, thick bread, is so amazing.

*thumbs up*

But that’s not all we ordered, we also ordered their Fried Soto, which is also delicious because it’s spicy and the food is not dry, it’s a bit moist, so it’s such a great combination.

From my opinion, the service is good but it’s full most of the time, so I suggest if you want to go there, you should go on weekdays and not at night.

2.         Asam Pedas
To be honest, I’m not sure if this is the name of the restaurant but I do know that it’s located at Kampung Melayu Majidee.....google it. Well, Asam Pedas is usually common with Malacca but Johor also have their own version of Asam Pedas.

So at this place I ordered Red Snapper (Ikan Merah) Asam Pedas, but if you go there, please don’t say Red Snapper, because they wouldn’t know....haha...you should say Ikan Merah. So,that was what I ate and honestly, it’s super delicious. The Asam Pedas is slightly different that Malacca’s version because Malacca’s usually more concentrated but Johor’s is not, but the spiciness is almost the same. And the fish was well cooked and it’s sweet, so it mixed well with the spiciness of the Asam Pedas.

3.       Murtabak Cheese Leleh
This is the name of the stall, I’m sure of it. It is also located at Kampung Melayu Majidee, next to the Asam Pedas restaurant actually. So, for some who don’t know what Murtabak is, it is one of the foods originated from the Middle East. Some described it as spicy folded omelette pancake with bits of vegetables. However, this version that we ate, they add on cheese.

All I could say about this one is.....it is to die for! It’s sooo good. The cheese was plenty and though it’s not as thick as the usual Murtabak, but the stuffing was enough and you can taste all of it, the meat, the cheese, the onion, in one bite. And it’s quite big! However, again, this is one hot-stuff place, so you have to come early. They opened in the afternoon until night, but usually the Murtabak will finish by late afternoon.

So, that’s all the reviews for this week. Let me know if like this kind of post and if you have any other places (in Malaysia, please) that you recommend for me to go.

ME, MYSELF & THE GIRLS

Hi guys! What up??

Since this week is all about the love

*sprinkling everyone with the love powder*

So I decided to do the same.

Not making love, you perv!

I mean, to write something love related.

This time it will be personal, it’s about me.  As some of you might remember that a few years ago I posted about my secret admirers (I’ll put the link below), so this week I’ll be sharing about the girls that I liked or had a crush on. To be honest, I’m not sure which one is which, because I don’t know if I REALLY like these girls or I just had crush on them or just like being around them.

Anyway, just bare with me.

I’m not gonna be revealing any names or any specific characteristic.

Here we go, not in order:
1.       X
I’m pretty sure those who have been reading my blog 5 or 6 years ago would definitely know her. So I am not explaining more about her, just to say that she was my schoolmate.

2.       Y
Y, you all remember her because she was a recent topic that mentioned on my My Diary’s posts. This was also the only girl that I have had the courage to open up to in person, though not in a situation I was hoping for. Don’t be surprised you guys, I was in my 20s, and it’s about time I do something like that. However, when I think about it again, I’m not sure if I do like her or was it just because she was nice to me....I really don’t know. I guess it was a good thing that we didn’t become a couple because what if I don’t actually like her that much? It will be a disaster.

3.       The girl who I never mentioned here before (or maybe I did?)
There was this girl in my primary school which I was quite close to on my last year there. I don’t remember if we’ve had exchanged gifts but I do remember I gave her a present (but I don’t remember what it was). I think she went to the same high school with me but for just like 1 or something and after that we lost contact.

4.       The girl who I think I’ve mentioned here before.
This one was from my high school. She was a junior while I was a senior. I have to say, she was pretty, and I was interested to know her. What I did was (when I think about it again, I can’t believe I did that at the age of 17, and I don’t mean it in a bad way) I gave a rose with a card that have my phone number. But I have to let you know that I didn’t personally gave to her, I asked one of my schoolmate to do it. I know its lame but in my defend, I was worry she didn’t want to accept it if I’m the one who gave it to her. Unfortunately, she had (or maybe has) a boyfriend, and I found out about that when she texted me.

5.       That little girl.
This was when I was 6 or 7, I can’t really remember. And I actually don’t remember who she was but my family said she was the daughter of our family friend or something. But I what I do remember is that I gave her this plastic ring with a plastic gem that you can get when you buy a candy stick (kinda like a candy cane). That was all.

6.       Those primary school girl(s)
I don’t remember how many but my sister said I spent time with quite a lot of girls when I was in primary school and I wasn’t just hang out, I bought them lunch too.

So yeah, that was pretty much the girls that I liked or had crush on or something.

I know it must be a shock for you all because I’m still single and never been in a relationship though the list is quite long, but don’t worry, so am I. I guess the one for me is not in this list because she’s out there somewhere.

*hopeless romantic af*

Anyway, thanks for reading my long ass post. And I hope you’ll have a great weekend and a great time with your love ones.

This week I wanna know, have you had a crush before? Or has someone had crush on you?

FOOD REVIEW

Hey hey guys!

Beginning from this year I will write a review not just about movie but also about food but not just the food but also about the restaurant itself and maybe about the service too.

So this week I will review about this restaurant that I’ve never been before and never heard of it before. Thanks for my best friend for introducing me to the restaurant.

Without further ado, the restaurant I’m about to review is Chir Chir Fusion Chicken Factory!

The name is a little bit funny, I know.

The one that I went to is location in Pavilion Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, not sure if there is any other places in Malaysia have this restaurant, maybe you can try to search for. If you wanted to go to the one in Pavilion, here I attached the location map (you can thank me later J ).

Before that, I should let you know that this restaurant has HALAL validation, so Muslim can also eat here.

Anyway, let’s talk about the food.

We ordered Mac & Cheese, Spicy Chicken,  KkanPung King (it’s chicken) and Spicy Chi-bap (also a chicken).  These (the photo) were all single portion but you can also order for double portion. For the 3 of us, it was already enough.

Now I’m gonna go through each menu that we ordered and share with you my opinion.

1.       Mac & Cheese (3/5)
As I mentioned above, we ordered single portion, so for the Mac & Cheese, it is for single person. I mean, the portion is small for 3 people to share but for 1 person, I think should be okay.  The macaroni is well cooked; it was not too mushy or too chewy. You can taste the saltiness and cheesiness (don’t know if this is an actual word) of the cheese, hence it blend the whole thing. Overall, for me the Mac & Cheese is good, however nothing really special, it’s quite similar to other Mac & Cheese I’ve tasted at other restaurant. I would give it 3 out of 5.

2.       Spicy Chicken (3.5/5)
For this one, a single portion you can share with 2 or 3 people because it’s chicken, though not a whole chicken, but the quantity is quite a lot. Unless you are incredibly starving and it’s the only food you ordered, then yeah, it would be the perfect portion....haha. The chicken was tender and I really like the crispiness of it. Though the name is Spicy Chicken but it was spicy enough, it was more like sweet and sour-ish flavour.  I would give it 3.5 out of 5.

3.       KkanPung Chicken (5/5)
It’s a boneless fried chicken cut in a small pieces and covered with spicy and sweet sauce. It also comes with dipping sauce. For a single portion you can share for like 2 person, I think. Again, the chicken was well cooked.  For this one, you can taste the spiciness of it with a vague of sweetness, so it turns out not too hot, it’s a perfect combination. Even the sweet potato that comes with it was well cooked and the sauce was really melted into it. I would give it 5 out of 5.

4.       Spicy Chi-bap (5/5)
The last menu we ordered.  This is also a boneless fried chicken but it was covered with just a spicy sauce. The portion is the same as the KkanPung Chicken except that this one comes with not only sweet potato but also French fries and rice. Unfortunately, at that time they were out of rice so they change it by giving us extra fries. The different thing about this menu is that it’s completely spicy, not a bit of sweetness. Hence, for those people who like spicy food, can definitely enjoy this one. I would give it 5 out of 5.

Regarding the service, I would say that it’s quite fast and quite reliable, I would say. However, for drinks, I would suggest soft drinks (like we did) because it will not make your stomach full, so you can eat a lot and it will be better if you drink straight from the can, if you know what I mean...haha.

So that’s all for this week,  I hope you enjoy reading my review and if you want more post like this, let me know in the comment below.

So this week I wanna know, if you have been to this restaurant, what are your opinions about it? Is my review helpful to you? Where are other restaurants I should go to?

THINGS THAT SHOULDN'T BE IN 2018

Hey guys! It’s me!

So, in like a couple of days, we’ll be in 2018!

*screeching*

To be honest, I’m both scared and excited at the same time. I’m scared because I feel I didn’t accomplish much this year, big or small, but I’m excited because it’s a new year and I’ll have a whole entire year for a chance to accomplish more things.

Anyway, that is not the topic I wanted to share with you all this week. It is something entirely different. And this time, I have to give credits to one of the most popular Youtuber, Mr. Connor Franta for indirectly giving me the idea to do this post. So as return, I'll share the link to his Youtube channel.

So, without wasting anytime, let’s start, the things that shouldn’t be in 2018.

1.       Jaywalker.
I’m not suggesting that there shouldn’t be a pedestrian in 2018; it’s just those people who walk as if there’s no other vehicle on the road. And they cross the street with ever so gently, thinking like there’s no car or motorbike, when in fact they can see the vehicle coming. I mean, come on, can’t you see the different between a car and a rhino? If a rhino, yes, you can walk as slow as you want because rhinos are slow too, but it’s a car for God sake.

2.       Horrible drivers
Related to the road topic, are the horrible drivers. I think the country could use some peace on the road in 2018. Just let those horrible drivers in this year. BTW, I just remembered something Barney Stinson said, “Chinese can’t drive”....haha...Though most of the things that came out of his mouth are ridiculous, but I have to agree with him on that matter.

3.       Petrol price
I know this might sounds stupid because this is actually involving a few countries, but can we just stop this ‘Price change every week’ thing and to not do bring it to 2018? Because to be honest, it’s not really helpful.

4.       Annoying video
Oh my God! Can we just leave all those annoying video trend in 2017? It’s funny how annoying people can be and it’s “amazing” how millions of people watched it. Like, really? Sometimes the video is so annoying, until it looks stupid. I’m not trying to be all snobby, but I don’t watch that kind of videos, my sisters did. So let’s just let the trend die in 2017.

5.       Bad movies
Some people might not agree with me because for them those bad movies could be entertaining.  I can accept if the main subject or the technology of the movie is not so good, though it’s highly possibly I might not watch, but there are some movies that are very, very bad, like the actors were poorly cast, the plot of the story wasn’t well arranged, the quality of the movie was more like a TV movie instead of a big screen movie, and the list goes on and on. So let’s leave it in 2017.

6.       Expensive public transport fare
Lastly, this. Can the government just stop the “trend” of increasing the public transport fare in this year? I mean, how can the people use the public transport when the expenses are more than driving their own car or motorbike? So let’s make 2018 the year when the fare stop increasing. J

So, that’s all I got for you guys this week. I guess I’ll write again next year.

Have a great holiday guys!

This week I wanna know what else am I missing on this post? What are your holiday plans?

MOVIE REVIEW (16)

Hey guys! How you doing?

So initially this week, I wanted to write about something else but since I went to the movie the other day so I thought I do what I have I always done after watching a movie, besides being completely shook, is that I make a review about it!

So as some of you might already know that on Thursday, I went to the movie or

*pronounce it in British accent*

you call it cinema if you’re British

And I.....watched....’Star Wars: The Last Jedi’!

*Queue in the Star Wars theme song*

Okay, here we go.

But before that, a gentle reminder, as always, that I can’t really tell much because then it will be a spoiler, blah, blah, blah....

The plot/storyline
All I can say is that it was well written. It really gets your attention the whole time, not a second that you might turn your head anywhere other than the screen.  And the action was from the beginning till end, so you’ll be at the edge of your seat almost the whole time. That’s all I can say because if I share more that I’m worry it might spoil it for you.

The casts/characters
As you know the cast is the same and of course there’s Mike Hamill as Luke Skywalker. I think what makes this movie great is because of how the character’s storyline was, it’s not boring or particularly cliché. You’ll understand when you watch it, maybe. And of course, there are some cameos which I didn’t expect, but was so awesome.

The score/soundtrack
Well, to be honest there wasn’t any particular score or soundtrack that really interest me...haha...or I don’t know if I was too caught up on the story, that I didn’t pay any attention to the score. If you have any, let me know on the comments below.

So, that’s all I can review this week. I know it’s not much but I can’t share much or else it’ll be a spoiler and I might get sued.

Let me know if you agree with me or don’t or if you have something you wanna add on, let me know.

Leave your opinion on the comment section below. Share this post to those who have or haven’t watched it. And follow BATC for more post like this.
